Your Gold Has Value. You Have Options.
Old chains, broken bracelets, rings you haven’t worn in years, jewellery from a past relationship, inherited pieces that aren’t your style — they may be doing nothing in your jewellery box, but the gold still has value.
At your consultation, we’ll look at what you’ve brought in, assess the gold and explain your options clearly. If your goal is simply to sell, we can discuss the value of your gold. If you’ve been thinking about a new ring, pendant, bracelet or another custom piece, there’s another option: use the value already sitting in your jewellery box to help pay for something you’ll actually wear.
Depending on the pieces and the project, existing gold may be reusable in the new design or its value can help offset the cost of creating something new.
How a Gold & Custom Jewellery Consultation Works
1. Bring In What You Have
Bring your unwanted gold jewellery, broken pieces, old rings, chains, earrings and any stones or heirloom jewellery you’d like us to look at. Don’t worry about sorting it beforehand. If you’re not sure whether something is gold, bring it.
2. We’ll Assess It With You
We’ll look at your pieces, identify what you’re working with and discuss their usefulness and value. If there are stones you’d like to preserve or sentimental elements you’d like incorporated into a new design, this is the time to talk about them.
3. Decide What You Want to Do
You may decide you simply want to sell your gold, redesign a particular piece, or use the value of the jewellery you already own toward something completely new.
The consultation is about understanding your options before making that decision.
Frequently Asked Questions About Selling, Reusing and Redesigning Gold Jewellery
Can I bring in gold jewellery even if it’s broken?
Absolutely. A broken clasp, bent ring or damaged chain doesn’t mean the gold has lost its underlying value. Gold can still be assessed based on factors such as its karat and weight even when the jewellery itself is no longer wearable.
Bring broken pieces along with intact jewellery and we’ll look at everything together.
Can I use old gold to pay for new custom jewellery?
In many cases, yes. The jewellery you bring in can be assessed and its value may help offset the cost of a custom project. Depending on the material and the design you’re creating, some existing gold may also be suitable for repurposing.
We’ll determine the best approach after seeing the jewellery rather than promising that every old piece can simply be melted directly into a new one.
Do you buy gold even if I don’t want custom jewellery?
You don’t need to commit to a custom jewellery project simply to have a conversation about your gold. If your main goal is to sell jewellery you no longer want, bring it to the consultation and we’ll discuss what you have and the options available to you.
How do you determine what my gold is worth?
Several factors matter, including the purity or karat of the gold, its weight and the construction of the jewellery. Gold market conditions also influence the underlying value of precious metal.
We’ll assess the jewellery in front of us rather than quoting a generic price for pieces we haven’t seen.
Can you reuse the actual gold from my old jewellery?
Sometimes, but not every piece of old gold should automatically be melted down and reused.
Different alloys, solder, wear and the requirements of the new design can all affect whether repurposing the original metal is the best technical choice. Adriana will assess the jewellery and explain whether direct reuse makes sense or whether applying its value toward new material will produce a better result.
What happens to the stones in my old jewellery?
If your jewellery contains diamonds, gemstones or other stones you’d like to keep, bring them with you. Existing stones can often become the starting point for a completely new design.
We’ll inspect them and discuss what could work before including them in a custom project.
What if my jewellery has sentimental value?
Not everything has to be sold or melted simply because you’re no longer wearing it. Sometimes the right project is a redesign that keeps a stone, engraving or another meaningful element while changing the jewellery around it.
Tell us what matters about the piece and we’ll explore ways to preserve that connection.
